<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager <br /> <br />DATE: November 18, 2020 <br /> <br />RE: Pay Request for Firefighter Memorial Structural Steel Corten Sign <br /> <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to approve pay request to JKP INC. in the amount of $26,980.00 with the Little Canada <br />Fire Department (LCFD) reimbursing the City for the full amount. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The structural steel Corten sign and honorary member plaques have been installed at the <br />Firefighters Memorial by JKP INC and they are now requesting payment for $26,980.00. Mark <br />Kasma from Bolton & Menk is overseeing the engineering of the project and confirmed <br />satisfactory installation. JKP INC is also installing the City trail sign and they are anticipating <br />that sign will be installed yet this year depending on the weather. The remainder of the project is <br />under a separate contract with Albrecht Company and due to a delay from the sign manufacturer, <br />the final landscaping and restoration is anticipated to be completed in early spring of 2021. At <br />that time, staff will plan a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony of the Little Canada <br />Firefighter Memorial. <br /> <br />BUDGETARY IMPACT <br />This project was budgeted for in City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) with the understanding <br />that the Little Canada Fire Department will reimburse the City for all costs. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the pay request to JKP INC in the amount of <br />$26,980 for the installation of the structural steel Corten sign and honorary plaques, and be <br />reimbursed from the Little Canada Fire Department for the same amount. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
