STAFF REPORT TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council FROM: Eric Seaburg, P.E., City Engineer DATE: February 9, 2022 RE: Approval of Plans and Specifications for 2022 Street Improvements ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED: Motion to approve plans and specifications and ordering advertisement for bids for street improvements on: • Yorkton Ridge (from Condit Street to end of cul-de-sac) – Project 2022-02 • Maple Lane & Jackson Street (from end of cul-de-sac to Labore Ave) – Project 2022-03 • Ryan Drive (Spruce Street to Country Drive) – Project 2022-04 • Woodlynn Avenue (Rice Street to east terminus) – Project 2022-05 BACKGROUND: Project staff has been working over the last several months to develop these projects, coordinate with impacted residents and property owners, and prepare final plans for bidding. The scope of improvements varies between the project areas. • Yorkton Ridge: Full depth reclamation with spot utility improvements • Maple Lane & Jackson Street: Full depth reclamation with spot utility improvements • Ryan Drive: 2” mill and overlay with storm sewer and sanitary sewer installation • Woodlynn Ave (west of tracks): 2” mill and overlay with spot storm sewer improvements • Woodlynn Ave (east of tracks): Full reconstruction with spot utility improvements On December 15, 2021, the City Council directed the City Engineer to prepare plans and specifications for street improvements on Yorkton Ridge & Maple Lane – Jackson Street. On January 10, 2022, the City Council directed the City Engineer to prepare plans and specifications for street improvements on Ryan Drive & Woodlynn Avenue. The table on the next page identifies the current estimated project costs, itemized by improvement type, with project contingency and indirect costs included. Once bids are received, this table will be updated with low-bid contractor pricing.
