STAFF REPORT
TO:Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council
FROM:Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager
DATE:August 5, 2021
RE:Phase I Pioneer Park Master Plan Update Presentation
ACTION REQUESTED:
None.
BACKGROUND
As the Phase I Master Plan for Pioneer Park nears completion, a final engagement effort was
identified in the Request For Proposal (RFP) for feedback and updating the community on
potential enhancements to Pioneer Park. Bolton & Menk provided the City with four boards that
were at a City booth on Saturday, July 31. Park & Recreation Commissioners volunteered to
‘staff’ the booth and get feedback and share updates to festival-goers.
At its Thursday, August 5, Park and Recreation Commission meeting, Commissioners shared
what they heard from the Canadian Days engagement effort. Overall, the comments were
positive and in support of improvements to Pioneer Park.
Josh Shields from Bolton & Menk will be giving an updated presentation on the master plan and
engagement feedback and be looking for any final comments from the City Council as the plan
nears the final phase to completion.
