CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
ORDINANCE NO. 855

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING LITTLE CANADA CITY CODE CHAPTER 2204,
EXCLUSION ZONES AND PROHIBITION OF CERTAIN EMPLOYMENT-
RELATED ACTIVITIES

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
ORDAINS: The City Code, Chapter 2204, for the City of Little Canada are amended as
follows:

SECTION 1. SUMMARY PUBLICATION. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section
412.191, in the case of a lengthy ordinance, a summary may be published. While a copy
of the entire ordinance is available without cost at the office of the City Clerk, the
following summary is approved by the City Council and shall be published in lieu of
publishing the entire ordinance:

The purpose of this ordinance is to amend Chapter 2204 of the Little Canada City
Code and definitions for Designated Offender, Licensed Chile Care Facility,
Permanent Residence, Temporary Residence, Public Parks or Fishing Piers, and
Schools. The amendments also include a detailed description of how to measure
the radius of an exclusion zone. The exclusion zone radius areas are around all
Pre-K through grade 12 schools and parks, including these that are in adjacent
cities where the radius boundary spills over into Little Canada. There is also a
radius area around all licensed daycares (centers & in-home daycares) that are
located only in Little Canada.

The revised ordinance language also narrows the scope of who this ordinance will
pertain to and limits the ordinance to a designated offender who has been assigned
as a Risk Level III predatory offender pursuant to Minn. Stat.244.052, or any
person who otherwise is required to register with the state department of
corrections and been assigned as a Risk Level III predatory offender.

SECTION 2. Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective on August 30, 2021.

ADOPTED by the City Council of Little Canada this 25th day of August, 2021.

CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
BY: John T.
