<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager <br /> <br />DATE: September 8, 2021 <br /> <br />RE: Little Canada Recreation Association Basketball Hoop Donation <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to accept the donation of $6250 from the Little Canada Recreation Association. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The basketball standards were in need of an upgrade at Pioneer Park to better meet the needs of <br />the community. The replacement was approved by the City Council at the October 28 City <br />Council meeting. The Little Canada Recreation Association (LCRA) committed to donating up <br />to $11,500 for this enhancement. <br /> <br />With the help of City staff, the new basketball standards were installed in early August and are <br />now in use. Staff has received many positive comments on the new basketball hoops and are <br />working on additional youth programming to utilize the new basketball hoops. <br /> <br />This generous donation is greatly appreciated and is a fantastic enhancement to the Pioneer Park <br />basketball courts. <br /> <br />BUDGETARY IMPACT <br />This project was not budgeted for in the 2020/2021 Capital Improvement Plan, but the LCRA <br />has generously committed to reimbursing the City for the entire cost of replacement up to <br />$11,500. The total for the new basketball standards is $6,250. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the City Council make a motion to accept the donation of $6,250.00 from the <br />Little Canada Recreation Association for the new Basket Ball Hoops at Pioneer Park.
