26 <br />the next calendar year with approval by the City Administrator. <br /> <br />B. All official holidays shall be considered to commence at the beginning of the first shift of the <br />day on which the holiday is observed and continue for twenty-four (24) hours thereafter. <br /> <br />C. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be a holiday and when a holiday <br />falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be a holiday. Note the exception outlined above <br />for the Christmas Eve holiday in years within which Christmas Eve falls on a Friday, Saturday <br />or Sunday. <br /> <br />D. Regular part-time employees, working a minimum of 20 hours per week on average projected <br />over a calendar year based on anticipated demands of the position, other than seasonal or <br />temporary will be granted pro-rated holiday pay for each holiday based on the average number <br />of hours worked in the preceding month, and subject to the criteria described above for regular <br />full-time employees. <br /> <br />E. Any regular non-exempt full-time employee, as well as regular part-time, working a minimum <br />of 20 hours per week on average projected over a calendar year based on anticipated demands <br />of the position, other than the City Administrator, Public Works Director, City Clerk, Park & <br />Recreation/Community Services Manager, Building Official, and Finance Director who is <br />required to work on any of the above-named holidays, shall be paid for each hour worked on <br />the holiday at their regular rate of pay plus time and one/half. This rate of pay includes the <br />holiday pay referred to above. This handbook and this provision do not apply to exempt <br />employees hired after July 12, 1995. <br /> <br /> Examples: <br />A full-time employee who is required to work 4 hours on a holiday would be paid for 4 <br />hours at 2 1/2 times their regular rate of pay and 4 hours at their regular rate of pay; <br /> <br /> A full-time employee working 8 hours on a holiday would be paid for 8 hours at 2 1/2 <br />times their regular rate of pay; <br /> <br />A full-time employee working 10 hours on a holiday would be paid for 10 hours <br />at 2 1/2 times their regular rate of pay. <br /> <br />Should an exempt employee be required to work on a holiday due to an emergency situation, <br />that exempt employee will receive equal time off for time put in. This handbook and this <br />provision do not apply to exempt employees hired after July 12, 1995. <br /> <br />Funeral Leave <br /> <br />Paid time off may be granted, up to a maximum of three days, in the event a regular full-time or regular <br />part-time employee suffers a death in his or her immediate family in accordance with the provisions of <br />this section.
