COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT <br />Department Overview <br />The Community Development Department provides direction and vision for the future economic and physical <br />growth of the City of Little Canada. The Planning Division carries out the objectives and policies of the <br />Comprehensive Plan to enhance the quality of life, facilitate orderly growth and development in the community <br />through zoning administration, land use application processing, and long-range planning. The Protective <br />Inspections Division is responsible for the enforcement of the adopted building codes. The Division also provides <br />quality customer service, technical information, permit processing, inspections, and code enforcement to ensure <br />compliance with State and local standards for livability and the integrity of the community and surrounding <br />area. <br />Our Mission <br />Our mission is to serve as a resource for residents and business owners in an effort to find solutions for their <br />property needs. This was included in the <br />2021 Budget. <br />Inspections Budget – The budget is increasing 7.91% to account for the Code Enforcement/Rental Housing <br />Coordinator that was included in the 2021 budget for 8 months and is in the 2022 budget for 12 months. <br />Fire Inspections Budget – The budget is decreasing 15.56% for realized savings from the successful restructuring <br />of the fire inspector consultant position to a fire inspection employee position at 8 hours per week. <br />49
