RECYCLING & SANITATION SERVICES <br />Overview <br />The City’s newsletter, Le Petit Canadien, is accounted for in the Recycling & Sanitation Department since the <br />Ramsey County SCORE grant partially funds the newsletter. <br />Service Areas <br />•Le Petit Canadien newsletter <br />2020/2021 Departmental Accomplishments <br />•All newsletter issues are translated to Spanish and available online <br />•Dedicated a minimum of 1-page in each City Newsletter issue to Recycling and Environment-related <br />articles <br />•Continued to provide an accessible newsletter both in print and an electronic version which is available <br />on the City’s website, directly sent to subscribers, and posted to Social Media <br />•Actively promoted recycling and environment-related items on Social Media and website <br />•Utilized grant funds to purchase reusable grocery tote bags promoting recycling that are available at City <br />Hall and distributed at the Farmers Market <br />2022 Departmental Goals <br />•Continue to publish the newsletter on the City’s website in Spanish and research the possibilities of <br />publishing in other languages <br />•Continue to utilize Select Committee on Recycling and the Environment (SCORE) grant funding to <br />partially fund the City’s newsletter <br />•Continue to promote recycling programs available to Little Canada residents in print, website, social <br />media, and promotional items in accordance with the SCORE grant funding and reporting policies <br />Budgetary Commentary <br />The budget includes funds to publish the newsletter 6 times per year with eight pages per newsletter. There is a <br />3.65% reduction in the budget to eliminate the publishing of one of the newsletter with 4 extra pages. These <br />additional pages had not occurred since 2018. <br />Contracted newsletter setup services were transferred to city staff in 2020.
