MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />Overview <br />Composed of five elected officials, the City Council meets the second and fourth Wednesday each month to <br />consider adoption of legislative and administrative measures to provide services to citizens. They also meet <br />monthly in workshops for an in-depth discussion of other potential actions to be taken. <br />Service Areas <br />•Debate and adopt local ordinances and policies <br />•Governance <br />2020/2021 Departmental Accomplishments <br />•Utilized Strategic Plan for Council decisions <br />2022 Departmental Goals <br />•Continue to utilize the 5-Year Strategic Plan as a guide for future Council decisions <br />•Enhance strategic partnerships with existing and other organizations that advance the goals and <br />strategic initiatives of the City of Little Canada <br />•Complete new/updated Strategic Plan <br />Budgetary Commentary <br />The 2.94% increase in this budget relates to anticipated increases in membership dues and an increase in travel <br />and training due to the LMC Conference that will be held in Duluth in 2022. Memberships in this budget <br />includes the League of MN Cities ($11,210), Association of Metropolitan Cities-Metro Cities ($4,300), Ramsey <br />County League of Local Governments, ($550), the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce ($500), and the Municipal <br />Mayors Association ($50). Contractual service includes the Tobacco compliance services ($400). Currently, $300 <br />of the tobacco compliance services are reimbursed by the State of Minnesota as a grant.
