BUILDINGS – CITY CENTER & OLD FIRE HALL <br />Overview <br />The City Center houses the Little Canada City Hall and the Little Canada Historical Society. Previously, the Old <br />Fire Hall was the home to the Little Canada Fire Department. The Old Fire Hall is now utilized as a public <br />gathering space (lower level) and by the Public Works Department for storage (upper level). <br />Service Areas <br />•City Center •Old Fire Hall <br />2020/2021 Departmental Accomplishments <br />•Made numerous changes at the City Center to keep the public and employees safe during the pandemic <br />•Upgraded three furnace and air conditioning units at City Hall and one furnace and AC unit at the History <br />Center <br />•Added Bipolar Ionization units to each of the seven furnaces at the City Center <br />•Upgraded all telephones at the City Center, Historical Center, and Old Fire Hall <br />•Used the Old Fire Hall as a makeshift meeting point for the Parks department during the pandemic to <br />keep employees socially distant <br />2022 Departmental Goals <br />•Oversee capital improvement projects at City Center to increase building efficiencies and improve <br />aesthetics <br />•Use the recently completed facility assessment to upgrade the City Center to meet ADA requirements <br />•Continue to utilize the lower level of the Old Fire Hall as a public gathering space and explore <br />opportunities to maximize its use <br />Budgetary Commentary <br />City Center- The budget contains operating costs for the City Center. Items in the budget include utilities, <br />cleaning services, alarm monitoring, camera monitoring, and repairs for the City Center. The 2022 budget is <br />based on the average of costs incurred in the budget for the past several years. This will result in a small budget <br />increase of $330. The City Center cleaning costs are based on cleaning the facility two times per week. <br />Old Fire Hall-The budget contains operating costs for the Old Fire Hall. Cleaning services for this building are <br />provided by a part-time Custodian.
