6 <br />5.How do engagement opportunities account for disparities and differences among <br />community members? <br /> <br />4.Diversity <br />Diversity means… <br />The equitable representation of internal and external characteristics, perspectives, and <br />experiences. <br />Diversity involves… <br />●Purposefully seeking out feedback from an array of types, abilities, and backgrounds <br />regardless of how it advantages or disadvantages the final outcome <br />●Actively demonstrating a desire to hear and learn from community members’ lived <br />experiences during all phases of community engagement <br />●Resolving to adjust or redesign current and future projects and initiatives that do not <br />adequately incorporate the breadth and depth of the community <br />Questions to consider <br />1.What voices and perspectives must be prioritized and what is being done to ensure this <br />occurs? <br />2.What social capital and connections must be (re)built to support the interest and <br />involvement of a representative community? <br />3.Which socioeconomic and demographic characteristics are being over-represented, <br />under-represented, or forgotten in community engagement efforts? <br />4.Is diversity adequately displayed throughout all levels of community leadership and <br />decision making? <br />5.Are diverse suggestions and ideas making their way out of internal community <br />conversations and into external community projects and initiatives? <br /> <br />5.Accessibility <br />Accessibility means… <br />A conscious community consideration for the widest range of abilities within the widest range of <br />situations to the fullest extent possible.
