Position Description - Recreation Coordinator <br />January 2021 Page 2 of 3 <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />• In-depth knowledge of recreation programming and sound recreational philosophy suited <br />to the needs of the City of Little Canada. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff, <br />employees, supervisors, elected officials, school staff, and the public. Uses good <br />judgment, tact, courtesy, and diplomacy when dealing with the public. <br />• Excellent customer service skills. <br />• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. <br />• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends. <br />• Ability to take general direction and complete assignments in a timely and accurate <br />manner. <br />• High degree of tact, courtesy, good judgment, and excellent communication skills. <br /> <br />PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors. Employee is subject to both inside and outside <br />environmental conditions. Employee is subject to noise during events and activities, but <br />generally free from additional work hazards. <br /> <br />Depending on the functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of <br />moderate physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying (up to 30 pounds), <br />pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 75 pounds). Tasks that <br />require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use <br />of proper lifting techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, <br />stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a <br />keyboard or work station and extended periods of time standing and/or walking. <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />• High School Diploma or GED. <br />• Bachelor’s degree in recreation or closely related field, or a minimum of two (2) years’ <br />work experience in a recreation setting. <br />• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. <br />• Relevant experience in computer utilization including Microsoft Office Suite. <br />• Valid Minnesota Driver’s License and good driving record. <br />• Must be able to successfully pass background and reference checks. <br /> <br />DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />• Computer proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs or similar design programs. <br />• Experience with CivicRec recreation registration software. <br />• Experience in event and program planning. <br />• Experience in marketing programs and events through flyer creation, website, recreation <br />software, and social media platforms. <br />• Strong knowledge of current recreational and leisure programming DRAFT
