STAFF REPORT <br />TO:Parks & Recreation Commission <br />FROM:Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Manager <br />DATE:April 1, 2021 <br />RE:Pioneer Park Workshop Recap <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />None. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City Council and the Parks and Recreation had a joint workshop to discuss priorities for <br />Pioneer Park to help shape the Request For Proposal (RFP) to assist the City in creating a <br />Pioneer Park Master Plan. The minutes for the meeting are attached or can be viewed here. <br />Three main areas were identified as items to be included in the RFP. The three areas identified <br />are not the only enhancements that are being considered, but should be a priority. Those items <br />were: <br />Trail Lighting <br />o liked the option for solar (selecting a fixture where solar is inconspicuous, or <br />where the system is powered by a solar array separate from the fixtures) <br />o want to look at lighting around the larger trail circuit and not have it confined to <br />the path between the parking lots <br />o fixtures should be spread apart (an appropriate level of trail illumination to be <br />determined) <br />Water Feature(s) <br />o nature themed <br />o smaller feature(s) <br />o consider misters in certain parts of the park <br />o availability of water/waste may be a factor in the placement of these features <br />Playground <br />o Location <br />o Nature and athletic elements <br />o Elements for a wide range of users <br />o Nets <br />o Potentially taller play structures
