STAFF REPORT <br />TO:Members of the Little Canada Planning Commission <br />FROM:Chris Heineman, City Administrator <br />DATE:October 10, 2019 Planning Commission Workshop <br />RE:Comprehensive Plan Update & Discussion <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Planning Commission will be holding a workshop meeting in the Conference Room immediately <br />following the regular Planning Commission Meeting on Thursday, October 10th. The purpose of this <br />meeting is to review the approved work program (attached) and discuss the following: <br />1.Introduction of Planning Consultant Bill Weber <br />2.Describe the comp plan process to-date and the Planning Commission role. <br />3.Work program to complete the plan and get a draft to the Planning Commission and City <br />Council by the end of the year, with an acceptable submittal to the Metro Council thereafter. <br />4.Update on communication with Metropolitan Council staff regarding time extension. <br />5.Review components of approved work program and discuss deficiencies in the current draft. <br />6.Description of how Planning Consultant will work with staff and the Planning Commission. <br />7.Open discussion about the following topics that the PC may wish to provide guidance on: <br />o Rice Street corridor – and related zoning code improvements <br />o Manufactured housing parks <br />o Sidewalks <br />o Bike-ped bridge(s) over I-35E <br />o Demographic forecast: Metro Council vs. 2018 American Community Survey <br />o Any additional issues Planning Commission members may have
