Certificates of Occupancy Sub-Chapter 16: Application Reviews <br /> Page 917-25 <br />917.120 Building Permits <br />(A) Once the appropriate municipal approval has been obtained for a zoning application, a <br />Building Permit may be issued. <br />(B) An application for a Building Permit may be submitted before the zoning application <br />process has been completed. <br />917.130 Certificates of Occupancy <br />(A) Purpose <br />This Section establishes the requirement for City approval prior to the use or occupation of <br />new buildings or structures, or prior to a change in use in an existing structure. Issuance of <br />a Certificate of Occupancy signifies that the building or structure complies with all Code <br />requirements. <br />(B) Required <br />(1) No building or structure hereafter erected or moved, or that portion of an existing <br />structure or building erected or moved, shall be occupied or used in whole or in part <br />for any purpose whatsoever until a Certificate of Occupancy shall have been issued <br />by the Community Development Director stating that the building or structure <br />complies with all provisions of this ordinance. <br />(2) No change in use of an existing building or structure shall occur until a Certificate of <br />Occupancy shall have been issued by the Community Development Director stating <br />that the building or structure complies with all provisions of this ordinance. <br />(C) Application <br />A Certificate of Occupancy shall be applied for coincident with an application for a <br />Building Permit or prior to a proposed change in use. <br />(D) Issuance <br />A Certificate of Occupancy will be issued within one business day after a City <br />representative has completed a final inspection and found the building or structure <br />conforming to applicable City Code requirements.
