MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />FEBRUARY 23, 2022 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was convened on the 23rd day of February, 2022 in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor John Keis called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the City <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Keis, Council Members McGraw, Fischer, Miller and Torkelson. <br />Absent: None. <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Chris Heineman, Finance Director Brenda Malinowski and <br />City Clerk/HR Manager Heidi Heller. <br />MINUTES <br />McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO. 2 022-2-28 — APPR O VING THE MINUTES OF THE FEBR UAR Y 91 <br />2022 REGULAR MEETING AS SUBMITTED <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Miller. <br />Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution adopted. <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />None. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Walter Dillon, stated that he owns a sneaker business in Little Canada, and has been open since <br />September 2021. He reported that his business has been broken into five times, and the neighbor has <br />also been broken into and car jacked. He stated that he is basically out of business now because of the <br />repeated burglaries. He stated that he employs other people but does not know how he can continue. <br />Ramsey County Deputy Mike Servatka, Crime Prevention Deputy, stated there has been an increase in <br />crime across the metro, including in Little Canada. He stated that initial investigations were closed due <br />to lack of evidence and explained that the high -value items displayed in view made it an easy target. <br />The City Administrator stated that the Thunder Bay Mall is under new ownership and staff is working <br />with the property managers on ways to improve safety and security. <br />McGraw stated that the daily incident reports that the Council gets from the Sheriff's Department are <br />of little value because there are no specific details of addresses or businesses, and he requested that the <br />reports give more details so that staff and the Council know exactly where and who are being <br />repeatedly affected. Deputy Servatka stated that Little Canada's location along the freeways and Rice <br />Street makes the city easily accessible to criminals. <br />
