<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Director <br /> <br />DATE: March 9, 2022 <br /> <br />RE: Gervais Mill Park Trail Improvements <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion authorizing the staff to enter into an agreement with the Minnesota Department of <br />Natural Resources and to authorize the advertising of rebidding for the Gervais Mill Park Trail <br />Improvement project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2021, the City of Little Canada was awarded $97,000 in grant funds from the Minnesota <br />Department of Natural Resources. On March 13, 2021, the City Council approved a resolution <br />supporting the grant application, acceptance of award, and agreement to maintain Gervais Mill <br />park trail for the improvements along Noel Drive. Staff and Bolton & Menk are working on <br />finalizing the agreement with the MnDNR. <br /> <br />This project previously received quotes in 2020 which led to seeking additional funding <br />opportunities. Now that agreement is almost complete, staff would like to get the project out to <br />bid once the agreement is executed. <br /> <br />BUDGETARY IMPACT <br />$135,500 has been budgeted for in the General Capital Improvement Fund (400) with $97,000 <br />coming from the the grant award from the MnDNR. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends authorizing the staff to enter into an agreement with the State of Minnesota <br />and to authorize the advertising of rebidding for the Gervais Mill Park Trail Improvement <br />project. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />• Gervais Mill Park Improvement Plan
