CITY OF LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />Management’s Discussion and Analysis (continued) <br />Year Ended December 31, 2021 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The graph below shows the governmental activities and their income and clearly reflects the need for <br />property taxes to supplement the activities of the City, since the other sources of revenue are insufficient to <br />fund the governmental activities. <br /> <br />Business-Type Activities <br />Business-type activities had an overall decrease in net position of $45,160. The Water Fund had an increase <br />in net position before general revenues of $119,306 (compared to an increase in 2020 of $38,582), and the <br />Sewer Fund had an increase in net position before general revenues of $84,392 (compared to a decrease in <br />2020 of $31,652). Modest rate increases in both funds (Water 3% and Sewer 4%) were approved in 2021 <br />that improved the net positions in both funds in 2021. The last rate increase occurred in 2018.
