No action is requested.
BACKGROUND
Indoor Farmers Market on April 11: The last Indoor Market of the season is next week on April
11. We currently have 11 vendors scheduled to bring goods like bread, eggs, chicken, coffee,
jams, sweets, handmade crafts, and more! Join us from 2-5 PM at the Little Canada Bingo Hall.
Arbor Day: City staff has reached out to local schools to invite 4th-grade classes to our Arbor
Day celebration. This year AFSA will be joining in on the festivities, which include a word from
the mayor and Parks and Recreation staff, a few songs from the 4th graders, a tree planting, and
refreshments afterward.
5K Sap Run: City Staff is working hard on registration for the 2022 5K Sap Run, which will take
place May 7 at Lake Gervais. We are grateful to have 7 amazing sponsors including Bolton &
Menk (Presenting Sponsor), State Farm- Pratap Bhosale Agency, Bix Produce, Fra-Dor Inc.,
SNAP Fitness of Little Canada, the Little Canada Fire Department, and Ramsey County Parks
and Recreation. Because of these sponsors, we are able to keep participant costs low, and
continue to improve our race, as well as include new and exciting things for participants- like the
chance for five runners to win a $100 gift card! Registration costs do go up on May 1, so register
soon!
Wildlife Walk: Join Carpenter Nature Center (CNC) at Spooner Park for our Wildlife Walk!
Participants, grades 3-5, will enjoy a guided hike through Spooner with a Naturalist from CNC.
Learn how to identify local plants and animals, create a fun craft, and meet the Nature Center’s
Animal Ambassadors (including the Barred Owl)! Registration is open, so sign up today!
Movies in the Park: This year the City will be hosting two Movies in the Park! To help kick off
Canadian Days, the first movie will take place on July 28 following the Ice Cream Social at the
Spooner Park ball fields. Staff chose to poll one class from AFSA, Little Canada Elementary,
and St. John’s to help choose the youth movie in July. The movie options are Sing 2, Encanto,
and Raya and the Last Dragon. AFSA has picked Sing 2, and we are waiting to hear from the
other schools. If the commission members have a movie preference we ask you to cast your vote
at the meeting. Our second movie will be The Proposal +which will take place on August 18 and
will be a teen plus movie. We are hoping to have one or two food trucks onsite as well as
concessions.
