STAFF REPORT
TO:Parks & Recreation Commission
FROM:Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Director
DATE:May 5, 2022
RE:Park Logos
ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED:
If desired, a motion from the Commission to recommend staff continue to move forward with
creating individual park logos.
BACKGROUND:
Staff met with Commission Mui to discuss the possibility of creating individual park logos that
could be used for multiple different purposes to help increase identity for the Little Canada parks
system. A few ideas that were discussed that these images could be used for were park
wayfinding signage, stickers, creating a park passport, geocaching, and possibly other branded
items. They could also be included in the newsletter, social media, and the website
communications to help identify each park.
Commission Mui presented a few draft examples to staff for the park logos that are included.
Size, shape, color, and the feature that is identified as the focul point can all be changed, but
before too much time and effort was put into this project, it was determined to bring it to the
Commission for comments and feedback.
BUDGETARY IMPACT
There is not a budgeted amount for creating the park logos. If the desire of the Commission is to
move forward with creating the design, staff will need to work on identifiying where the funding
will come from for the contracted design services.
RECOMMENED ACTION
Staff would like to hear from the Commission on if this is a project they would like to see
continue and if Commissioners would have interest in providing input on what the focul point
should be at each park.
