No action is requested. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Recreation Events Reflection: <br />-Ice Cream Social: This year’s Ice Cream Social was July 28 from 6-8 PM at the Spooner <br />Park Amphitheater. We had a magician, a musician, various yard games, an LCFD Fire <br />Truck, a balloon artist, an airbrush tattoo artist, a dunk tank, and more during the entirety <br />of the event. Thank you to the LCRA, LCFD, and Culver’s for sponsoring the Ice Cream <br />Social. Another thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who took the time to help <br />make this event a success! There was an estimated 700+ people in attendance. <br />-Movies in the Park: The City hosted the first Movies in the Park of the season featuring <br />Sing 2, on July 28 at approximately 9:15 PM (dusk) following the Ice Cream Social. This <br />free family-friendly movie was held in the ballfields behind Little Canada Elementary <br />School. Low-cost concessions were available to purchase before and during the movie. <br />There was an estimated 200+ people in attendance. <br />Upcoming Events and Activities: <br />-Movies in the Park: The City is hosting another Movies in the Park! Join us for The <br />Proposal on August 18 at approximately 8:45 PM (dusk) at the Spooner Park <br />Amphitheater. This light-hearted PG-13 comedy will be the perfect opportunity for a <br />night out. There will be a taco truck, and chocolate truck in attendance, and the LC <br />Concession Stand for all your snack needs! <br />-Farmers Market: The Little Canada Farmers Market takes place Mondays, June 6- <br />October 3, from 2-6 PM at 2920 Rice Street. Staff continues to hear many positive things <br />about the Market and the variety of vendors. <br />We accepted a new vendor to the Market- Cozy Crow, and we are expecting to have <br />Collova Farms in mid to late August. Cozy Crow sells baked goods like bread and <br />cookies, and also has jams and jellies. Collova Farms has a bountiful supply of produce. <br />As a reminder, the Farmers Market is accepting SNAP/EBT and WIC and is <br />implementing the Power of Produce, which is a youth-focused program for ages 4-12. <br />Each youth participant who signs up will receive a $2 token each time they visit the <br />market that can be used to purchase fresh fruits or vegetables from our vendors. Our goal <br />with the Power of Produce is to encourage family participation at the market and inspire <br />youth to make healthy food choices. Thank you to the LCRA who is sponsoring the
