<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Bryce Shearen, CPRP, Parks & Recreation/Community Services Director <br /> DATE: November 30, 2022 <br /> RE: Pioneer Park Park Playground Equipment <br /> <br /> <br />ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED <br />Motion to approve the purchase of playground equipment for Pioneer Park. <br />BACKGROUND <br />With the Pioneer Park ‘play node’ project moving forward, staff sent a playground Request for <br />Quotes (RFQ) to playground vendors. The purpose of sending the request out now was to be able to <br />choose a playground and potentially reduce markup, capitalize on 2022 pricing, and place an order <br />to be able to have the equipment onsite by the Summer of 2023 with the anticipated extended lead <br />times due to global supply-chain issues. <br />As a reminder, many Park Amenities are being procured directly by staff and alongside that, Site <br />Improvements will be made by a construction contractor. <br />Park Amenities Being Procured Directly by City Staff <br />• New playground Equipment (equipment and installation) <br />• Poured-In-Place Rubber surfacing (to be installed by the playground company above) <br />• A new shade structure/picnic shelter <br />• Site furnishings (new picnic tables, benches, and drinking fountain) <br />• Entry kiosk <br /> <br />Site Improvements Being Bid for Construction in 2023 <br />• New sidewalks and trails throughout the project area <br />• Site grading and drainage improvements <br />• Rainwater gardens and turf mounds <br />• Interactive water feature (push button activation) <br />• Tree and landscaping plantings <br />• Fencing <br />• Site Restoration <br /> <br />Included in the Request For Quotes from playground vendors was a budget of $400,000 (donation <br />from the Little Canada Recreation Association) and playground equipment items that had been <br />identified in the Pioneer Park Master Plan from recent input from the community and the Parks & <br />Recreation Commission.
