MINUTIJS <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />March 5, 2009 <br />Slain commented on how great the recent Timberwolves Game trip was that was sponsored <br />by the Little Canada Recreation Association. Eight youth basketball teams attended with <br />around 80 tickets given to the local youth. <br />Morelan stated that the LCRA is the only association operating the Little Canada Bingo Hall <br />at the Market Place Center. He distributed the upcoming schedule of bingo sessions, <br />commenting that when you play bingo there you are supporting the LCRA. <br />Market Place Morning Talks are scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month. This <br />month, on Mvch 11, it will feature a local dentist, Dr. Don Erickson, giving a talk on Dental <br />Care. <br />Morelan distributed the spring/summer activity registration forms to the local schools <br />yesterday. He stated there also is a Senior Exercise program held at the Old Fire Hall through <br />May every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning from 9:00 am to 10:00 a.m. <br />Morelan was pleased that the skating rinks were able to remain open later because of the <br />colder weather. They are closed now, though, but they remained busy throughout the season. <br />The LCRA approved $500.00 to be donated to the Jr. Bowling at Saxon Lanes last month. <br />Chair Fahey requested a listing of all commissioners with addresses, emails and phone <br />numbers. Norgard stated she would handle that request. <br />Maida inquired if the Parks System Comprehensive Plan was complete. Sanders said he had <br />made the final adjustments made at the joint City Council/Park & Recreation Commission <br />meeting. He made CD's for the P&R Commission secretary, P&R Director Morelan and City <br />Planner Steve Grittman. Maida asked if this plan will be used as an annual tool for the <br />commissioners to review for annual goals.
