Staff believes Aspen Pond needs this work done and has made some changes in the CIP in order
to make it happen. Along with the $15,000 budgeted for the annual pond project, staff is also
recommending applying the $85,000 currently planned for the Country Drive ditch cleaning to
this project. The Country Drive ditch work involves working with the railroad and it is unlikely
that it can be coordinated for 2023 so it will be re-scheduled for 2024 or later. The remaining
$35,592.50 gap will be filled with funds from the Capital Infrastructure fund 450. The impact to
the fund will be minimal when considering the 2023 budgeted expenditures, approximately 3.7
million dollars in budgeted capital expenditures in the fund. City staff will continue to closely
monitor the fund to ensure sufficient fund balance for future projects.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:
Funds will be used from the Capital Improvement Fund – Fund 603. $136,000 will be budgeted
in 2023.

STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends approving the amendment to the Capital Improvement Fund to include the
stormwater work at Aspen Pond.

ATTACHMENTS:
Map of pond
