MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />APRIL 9, 2009 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Planning <br />Commission of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 9th day of <br />April, 2009 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Vice Chair Tom Duray called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m, and the <br />following members of the Planning Commission were present at roll call: <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Mr. Tom Duray <br />Mr. Scott Barraclough <br />Mr. Tom Fischer <br />Mr. Jon Hall <br />Mr. Chuck Pechmann <br />ABSENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Mr. Dan Knudsen <br />Mr. Jeff Helmeke <br />Mr. Steve Grittman, City Planner <br />Mr. Kevin Helander, Cable TV <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />MINUTES The February 12, 2009 Planning Commission meeting minutes were <br />approved as submitted. <br />CUP & Doug Merit, Icon Solutions, representing CVS Pharmacy, appeared <br />VARIANCE - before the Commission requesting a Conditional Use Permit for a <br />CVS Comprehensive Sign Plan as well as Variances from the required <br />PHARMACY setback for freestanding signs and from the maximum allowed sign <br />SIGNAGE square footage for the CVS Pharmacy and Rice At C Center at the <br /> northeast corner of Rice Street and County Road C. <br />Merit described the signage plan in detail, noting that it includes two <br />freestanding signs, one on Rice Street and one on County Road C. He <br />reported that these signs have been relocated to comply with setback <br />requirements. The Variance being requested is to exceed the sign square <br />footage by 68 square feet. Merit then reviewed the building signage as <br />well as drive-through, directional, and secondary signs. <br />With regard to the freestanding signs, Merit reported that this signage will <br />be unique to Little Canada given that the background of the signs is <br />opaque and only the letters will be lit. <br />
