MAINTENANCE WORKER 1 JOB DESCRIPTION <br />3 <br /> <br />4. Performs maintenance and repairs as needed. <br /> <br />a. May perform building maintenance and repair for any City facility such as <br />painting, carpentry, and minor plumbing. <br /> <br />b. Maintains, repairs, and operates all City equipment such as, but not limited to, <br />four-wheel drive pickups with plows, single-axle trucks, air compressors, <br />generators, mowers, tractors with attachments, skidsteer, and tools. <br /> <br />5. Performs inspections of City infrastructure and equipment to ensure compliance with City, <br />State, and Federal safety standards and general attractiveness. <br /> <br />6. Is on-call on a rotating stand-by basis to respond to emergency maintenance situations on <br />holidays and weekends and to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of normal <br />working hours. Employee must respond in accordance with departmental call-out procedures. <br /> <br />7. Is polite, friendly, and exhibits good communication skills when dealing with the public, <br />contractors, fellow employees, etc. <br /> <br />8. Treats everyone with respect. Does not use rude or abusive language or behavior towards any <br />residents or fellow employees. <br /> <br />9. Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position. <br /> <br />10. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned in relation to the operation of the City as <br />a whole. <br /> <br />DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br />• Post high school education in sewer and/or water field. <br />• One or more years of experience in a related/similar field. <br />• Possession of Class S-C Sanitary Sewer Operator’s License. <br />• Possession of a Class D Water System Operator’s License. <br />• Valid MN Class B Commercial Driver’s License with complete licensing including tanker and <br />air brakes endorsements. <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />• High School diploma or G.E.D. <br />• Valid MN Class D Driver’s License <br />• Some experience in a related/similar field. <br />• Ability to safely lift heavy objects in excess of 100 lbs., walk and stand for long periods of <br />time, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions. <br />• Ability to communicate orally and in writing. <br />• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. <br />• Ability to take initiative and carry out tasks independently of others. <br />• Ability to read plans such as utility maps, as-builts, street improvement plans, etc. <br />• Ability to use a computer/tablet to navigate GIS mapping and work order software.
