STAFF REPORT
TO:Mayor Fischer and Members of City Council
FROM:Bill Dircks, Public Works Director
DATE:May 24, 2023
RE:Presentation – Highway 36 Multimodal Corridor Study
MNDot began looking at Highway 36 between English Street and 35W/Cleveland Avenue in early
2023. They have put together a project management team comprised of members of MNDot, Zan
Associates, Ramsey County, Maplewood, Roseville, and Little Canada. Meetings are held monthly
and outreach efforts have been ongoing to try and connect with all residents and businesses in the
corridor and obtain information on how people feel about existing conditions and what they would like
to see with a new project.
All modes of transportation are being studied in order to come up with a plan for rebuilding the
corridor to make it as safe and convenient as possible for vehicles, bikers, and pedestrians. There is an
in-person open house at the Roseville Library on Tuesday, May 23 from 4:30 – 6:30 and a virtual open
house on Zoom on May 31 from Noon – 2:00. There is also a survey that has been shared on the
City’s website and Facebook page and there have been over 1000 responses so far with a lot of input
David Elvin, Principal Planner from MNDot, will be giving a presentation on the current status of the
project and what is coming in the future.
