<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Eric Seaburg, P.E., City Engineer <br /> <br />DATE: June 14, 2023 <br /> <br />RE: Partial Payments #1 – 2023 Street Improvements <br /> Change Order #1 – 2023 Street Improvements <br /> <br />ACTIONS TO BE CONSIDERED: <br />Motion to approve Partial Pay Estimate No. 1 to Minnesota Paving and Materials in the amount <br />of $182,596.62. <br /> <br />Motion to approve Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $9,020. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The total amount earned by the Contractor on this partial pay request is $192,206.97. <br />Withholding a 5% retainage, the amount due is $182,596.62. <br /> <br />This spring, a sinkhole developed around a catch basin near the intersection of Desoto Street and <br />Costa Lane. City st aff temporarily patched the sinkhole but a more in-depth repair is required. <br />Additionally, catch basins located on Spruce Street just north of this year’s project limits require <br />rehabilitation. To alleviate the burden on City maintenance staff, these improvements are <br />proposed as Change Order 1 to the 2023 Street Improvements contract. <br /> <br />SOURCE OF FUNDS: <br />Street and utility improvements will be funded through the City’s Infrastructure Capital <br />Improvement Fund and special assessments. Change Order 1 will be funded through the City’s <br />Infrastructure Capital Improvement Fund. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve payment in the amount of $182,596.62 and <br />approve Change Order #1 in the amount of $9,020. <br />
