2023 LABORE ROAD SIDEWALK STUDY <br />ENGAGEMENT REPORT <br />Engagement Plan Overview <br />The City of Little Canada is conducting a Labore Road Sidewalk Study as a part of the 2023-2032 Capital <br />Improvement Plan to assess safety and identify reconfiguration or new infrastructure options. The City, <br />partnering with consultant, Bolton & Menk, Inc., is conducting a Public Engagement Plan to gather input, <br />answer questions, and discuss possible alternatives with the public. <br />Engagement Plan Goals <br />• Understand and document perceived problems <br />• Collect input from residents on concerns, priorities, and <br /> preferences within the study area <br />• Share and discuss possible improvements <br />• Document a recommended or preferred alternative <br />Engagement Approach <br />Several engagement tools are being used to capture as much feedback as possible: <br />• Interactive project website <br />• INPUTiD comment map <br />• Community survey <br />• Open House events <br />• Project update communications (email/text) <br />May Open House <br />Engagement Summary <br />March - May, 2023 <br />>50 <br />people attended the <br />May Open House <br />111 <br />people have signed <br />up to receive emails <br />23 <br />comments and <br />16 reactions on <br />INPUTiD map <br />590 <br />website views <br />115 <br />submitted surveys <br />(print + digital) <br />75% <br />said they were extremely likely or very likely to use a new <br />amenity (sidewalk, trail, bike lane) on Labore Road <br />Survey Results <br />81% of drivers use Labore Road daily <br />60% of pedestrians use Labore Road daily or most days <br />39% of bicyclists use Labore Road most days or weekly <br />Common Themes <br />• Improve Safety: more stop signs (especially at <br /> Arcade and Labore), speed bumps, and/or a lower <br /> speed limit <br />• Increase Signage: more speed limit, weight limit <br /> and children at play signs <br />• Reduce Traffic: maintain residential feel of <br /> corridor by reducing commercial traffic <br />• Enhance Connectivity: connect new trail or <br /> sidewalk with existing trails in the area <br />• Concerns: cost to homeowners, impact on <br /> property (yards/driveways), winter maintenance
