STAFF REPORT <br />TO:Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council <br />FROM:Corrin Wendell, Community Development Director <br />DATE:August 9, 2023 <br />RE:Planning Commissioner Appointment <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />A motion to appoint Emil Carlson-Clark to the Planning Commission. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City has been on-going with finding an additional Planning Commissioner after Chris <br />Kwapick became a City Council member. <br />Staff recommends that Emil Carlson-Clark be appointed to the Planning Commission. Mr. <br />Carlson-Clark is currently a Little Canada resident and was an impressive candidate during the <br />interview process. <br />Each member shall be appointed by the Council and shall hold office until expiration of his/her <br />term. Members shall serve for a term of three (3) years except in the case of filling vacancies <br />with unexpired terms. Each member may serve for no more than three (3) consecutive three (3) <br />year terms. <br />Emil’s term would expire December 31, 2023, because he is filling in for the rest of Chris <br />Kwapick’s term, at the end of this term, Emil would be able to apply to be reappointed for a full <br />term. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />A motion to appoint Emil Carlson-Clark to the Planning Commission.
