STAFF REPORT <br />TO: Parks & Recreation Commission <br />FROM:Sierra Hietala, Recreation Coordinator <br />DATE:March 2, 2023 <br />RE:Recreation Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />Informational Update. No action is requested. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Little Canada Indoor Market: The next Indoor Market of the season will take place next <br />Monday, March 6 from 2-5 PM at the Little Canada Bingo Hall. Our vendors will have plants, <br />produce, crafts, sweets, self-care goods, and more! <br />Snowshoe Programs: The City is excited to announce two upcoming snowshoe events! <br />Little Canada 5K Sap Run: The Sap Run is back May 6! Get ready for a scenic run around Lake <br />Gervais during our annual 5K. Sign-ups began on February 1 and there are currently 22 people <br />registered. The pricing structure increases as the event date gets closer so it is recommended to <br />register early for savings. Each participant will receive a Sap Run t-shirt, a goodie bag, and have <br />their name put into multiple gift card drawings! <br />Staff is currently looking for Sap Run Sponsors, so please direct sponsorship inquiries to <br />sierra.hietala@littlecanadamn.org or call (651)766-4042. <br />Upcoming Activities <br />Spring Registration for Youth and Adult Activities began on February 1. This includes: <br />-Defensive Drivers Refresher Courses0 <br />-Youth and Adult Pickleball <br />-After School Tennis <br />-Baseball, Softball and T-Ball <br />-Wildlife Walk <br />-Spring Gymnastics <br />Visit littlecanadamn.org to view the catalog and sign up for an activity. <br />Adult Programs <br />-Master Gardener Class: These virtual classes are typically held on the last Tuesday of <br />the month. Upcoming class topics are: <br />o March 28- Spring into Summer <br />o April 25- Introduction to Vegetable Gardening <br />o May 23- Home Composting
