Area 1, third year of growth <br />•2022: intentionally let the prairie grow without timed mows <br />•Site managed: <br />•May: Great River Greening treated early season invasive grasses with Clethodim near Arcade Street <br />•May: Great River Greening volunteers planted some supplemental plugs near Arcade Street <br />•July: Great River Greening contractor spot mowed reed canary and other invasive grasses only <br />•July: Great River Greening contractor applied chemical spot treatment to Canada thistle and other <br />perennial invasive plants <br />•July and August: US Fish and Wildlife Service hand weeded biennial species like common mullein, <br />common burdock and bull thistle <br />•Overall: <br />•Native flowers and grasses increased (in both diversity and abundance) across the site this year <br />•Pressure remains from invasive grasses and some weedy species as well as impacts from neighbors <br />and dumping <br />•2023 plan: adaptive management, perhaps with targeted mows to reduce invasive grasses or spot treatments <br />for perennial weeds
