Page 1 of 3 <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LITTLE CANADA CITY CODE 1103.020 AND <br />ENACTING CITY CODE 1103.030: THE RAISING OF CHICKENS, POULTRY, <br />AND OR FOWL WITHIN THE CITY <br />The City Council of Little Canada does ordain: <br />AMENDMENT. The following Section of 1103.020 shall be redacted to be able to allow the <br />enactment of Section 1103.030. The Raising of Chickens, Poultry, and or Fowl within the City. <br />Little Canada City Code Section 1103.020 is amended as follows: <br />1103.020. UNLAWFUL KEEPING. It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, raise, breed or <br />feed livestock more specifically set forth as cows, steers, cattle of any kind, horses, sheep, goats, <br />lambs, pigs, or any other domesticated farm animal raised and/or maintained for food, produce, <br />breeding, dairying, or other recognized farm income livestock operation in the City. It shall also <br />be unlawful for any person to keep, raise, breed, or feed poultry and/or pigeons within the City. <br />ENACTMENT. Little Canada City Code Section 1103.030 is hereby enacted: <br />1103.030. THE RAISING OF CHICKENS, POULTRY, AND OR FOWL WITHIN THE <br />CITY. <br />1.DEFINITIONS <br />a.City – shall mean and refer to the City of Little Canada. <br />b.Brooding – means the period of poultry growth when supplemental heat must be <br />provided, due to the bird’s inability to generate enough body heat. <br />c.Coop – the structure for the keeping or housing of poultry permitted by the <br />Section. <br />d.Exercise Yard – a larger fenced area that provides space for exercise and foraging <br />for the birds when supervised. <br />e.Officer – any person designated by the city administrator as an enforcement <br />officer. <br />f.Poultry – any domesticated birds in the order of Galliformes (excluding the genus <br />Meleagris) that serve as a source of eggs or meat. <br />g.Rooster – a male domesticated bird in the order of Galliformes. <br />h.Fowl – all domesticated barnyard and water birds including, but not limited to, <br />chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese. <br />i.Run – a fully enclosed and covered area attached to a coop where the poultry can <br />roam unsupervised. <br />j.Pigeon – a member of the family Columbidae.
