C / Lakeshore Drive
37Z~9
Based upon the low bid received, the cost of the trail
portion of the project (if it had been awared) is estimated
to be as follows.
TRAIL COST ESTIMATE
Bituminous trail, 8' wide $ 20,235
Clear & grub 3,000
Sod and turf establishment 3,000
Mobilization 1,500
TOTAL ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST $ 27,736
[The bid is based upon a unit price contract. The above
represents the estimated final quantities of work and the bid
unit prices recieved.]
PREBID COST ESTIMATES
PREBID ESTIMATE (1)
ENGINEER'S ESTIMATE (2)
43,000
38,000
(1) The prebid cost estimate provided to Council
for their neighborhood meeting was $51,550
including 20% project overhead (June 22 memo
to Council). Therefore the direct
construction cost of that estimate would be
$43,000.
(2) The engineer's estimate (estimate made just
prior to bid) was $38,000.
NOTE: Although the overall bid unit prices were
somewhat higher than previous market
conditions, I think favorable bid prices for
the trail work were recieved.
The prebid estimates were high because we
thought that grading of the trail would
increase the expected price of the trail.
Apparently the bidder was not as concerned
about the grading as we were.
Page 15
