~~
"(.:
~ ~~~ ~~;
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(612) 484-2177 /FAX: (612) 484-4538
TO: Mayor Hanson & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: May 20, 1994
RE: Ramsey County Strategic Planning Process
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
In further discussing the County's strategic planning program
with members of their staff, I have learned the key components of
the initial process as they relate to the City of Little Canada
are as follows:
* Their goal is to develop a plan to complete the
strategic planning process by November, 1994 (a plan to
plan).
* It is their goal to have this strategic planning
process completed by the summer of 1996.
* They are seeking City input for membership on the
various committees. (Fifteen in all. See listing of
committees on attached pages.) They are not requesting
or requiring someone from our community to serve on all
of the committees.
* People identified for committee membership by the City
of Little Canada would include elected officials,
Planning Commission representatives, Parks and
Recreation Commission representatives, staff, and other
citizens with expertise in any of the fifteen committee
areas which we feel could be a benefit to the process.
* The County would like to have committee membership
addressed by the end of June. Therefore, we will need
to identify people as soon as possible.
Given the process outlined, it does not seem feasible that we can
do a great deal of advertising for membership. Rather, we should
consider people with known expertise who could be of value. We
could then solicit their interest in serving on a committee and
forward people answering in the affirmative to the County for
further consideration.
Page 14
