MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />DECEMBER 20, 2023 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was convened on the 20th day of December 2023 in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Tom Fischer called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the City <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Fischer, Council Members T. Miller, Kwapick, Gutierrez and D. Miller. <br />Absent: None. <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Chris Heineman, Community Development Director Corrin <br />Wendell, Public Works Director Bill Dircks, and City Clerk/HR Manager Heidi Heller. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />T. Miller introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO. 2 023-12-155 — APPR O VING THE MINUTES OF THE NO VEMBER <br />29, 2023 REGULAR AND THE DECEMBER 13, 2023 WORKSHOP MEETINGS AS <br />SUBMITTED <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by D. Miller. <br />Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />None. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />None. <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />DONATION FROM LITTLE CANADA FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Fire Chief Don Smiley introduced the members present with him tonight and stated that the intention is <br />to provide an update on charitable gambling in Minnesota. <br />Rachel Jenner, Executive Director of Allied Charities, recognized the great work in fundraising efforts <br />of the Little Canada Fire Department. She stated that in 2023 charitable gambling organizations raised <br />$700,000,000 in Minnesota and organizations are making record donations. She provided additional <br />overview of the charitable gambling activities, taxes paid, and legislative efforts. She asked that the <br />City let their legislators know if they feel that charitable gambling is important to the community. <br />The Fire Chief stated that the City has been conducting charitable gambling beginning in 1967 at the <br />old fire station and has been fortunate that has been a positive endeavor for the community. <br />
