Name: Mayor and City Council
Date: September 21, 2023
Page: 3

H:\LTCANADA_CI_MN\0N1125241\1_Corres\C_To Others\City\209 Ryan Drive Memo - September 2023\209 Ryan - Update Memo.docx

Figure 6: Depiction of Broader Drainage Pattern Towards 209 Ryan Drive

Figure 6 below shows the broader non-roadway drainage the flows towards 209 Ryan Drive. The
drainage includes stormwater coming from a 24” storm sewer. The intent of this figure is to further
show that a curb or berm across Roger’s western driveway would have little impact on drainage that
arrives at his property.

Figure 7: Concrete Storm Sewer to Creek

Figure 7 depicts a much more involved solution to the ponding water at 209 Ryan Drive. This option
would create a new low point between the two driveways and would then convey that water towards
the creek with a pipe adequately-sized to carry the water without temporarily backing up like the
current system does. This option is much more expensive than lowering the eastern driveway with more
construction-related impacts to Roger’s property. However, if this option was performed later after
lowering the eastern driveway, the work and costs associated with lowering the eastern driveway be
wasted.

I recommend we meet with Roger to discuss these findings and come to a resolution on a path forward.

Sincerely,
Bolton & Menk, Inc.

Eric Seaburg, PE
Principal Engineer
