HOW DO WE COMPARE:
The bellow information was compiled by using six neighboring cities (St. Paul, Mendota Heights,
Maplewood, Falcon Heights, Rossville, Arden Hills)

Note: that 2023 current rates have been used for comparison purposes since 2024 rates are not available.
The yellow bar is Little Canada’s 2023 rate and the green bar is the proposed 2024 rate.

As noted in the bellow graphs City of Little Canada sewer rates are the lowest, when comparing in 2023.
The bellow analysis assumes a quarterly flow of 12,000 gallons.

When comparing Little Canada sewer bill ($70.54) with the second lowest city quarterly water bill
(Falcon Heights $75.93), Little Canada charges 7.64% less. Further, when comparing with the highest
city quarterly sewer bill (Arden Hills $145.41), Little Canada charges 106.14% less for its water. The
average sewer bill for all six cities is $89.78, Little Canada charges 27.28% less for its sewer when
compared to the average bill.

CONCLUSION:
Higher sewer rates are projected based on overall increases in expenditures. The bellow rates would need
to be evaluated on a yearly basis based on current projections for operating expenditures and capital
infrastructure needs.

COMBINED BILL PROJECTED TRENDS – WATER, SWER and STORMWATER

The spike from 2023 to 2024 reflects the introduction of the stormwater utility fee. The new fee is
estimated at $20.51 a quarter, with a 4% annual increase thereafter.
