Because of a lack of pedestrian
infrastructure on the roadway, residents have been forced to use the grass or walk on the road when
traveling on foot. The construction of a multi-use trail will give residents and visitors a safer and
more comfortable way to access and traverse this corridor. This project is also in line with Ramsey
County’s 2022-2026 Transportation Improvement Program.

This project is essential to providing safe transportation options for our residents. County Road D is
directly adjacent to Thunder Bay Park, which contains a major east/west trail and serves as an
entrance to Little Canada’s trail system. This area of our city contains a number of proposed off-road
trails and pedestrian facilities, as outlined in our 2040 Parks and Trails plan. This project would be
an important piece of a fully integrated network and it would greatly enhance safety and comfort for
all residents navigating this area of Little Canada on foot or by bicycle.

The proposed County Road D Improvements are endorsed by the City of Little Canada, and we are
supportive of the County’s funding pursuits to construct the project.

Sincerely,

Tom Fischer
Mayor
City of Little Canada
tom.fischer@littlecanadaMN.org
651-489-5585
