<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Fischer and Members of City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Chris Heineman, City Administrator <br /> Laura Linehan, Community Relations Manager <br /> <br />DATE: February 14, 2024 <br /> <br />RE: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Introduction <br /> <br />ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED: <br />This is an introduction and update; no action is required. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City of Little Canada is working with the League of Minnesota Cities to host an introduction <br />to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training with City Council and the city leadership team <br />at the February 28, City Council Workshop. <br /> <br />The purpose of this training is to meet staff and elected officials where they are at in <br />understanding the fundamentals of DEI as the city works to build an internal and external DEI <br />program. In advance of the training on February 28 staff wanted to provide an introductory <br />overview. <br /> <br />INTRODUCTORY OVERVIEW: <br />At the February 14 City Council Workshop, staff will provide an overview to include: <br />• Strategic Direction Initiative background <br />• Historic race and ethnicity demographic comparison for Little Canada <br />• Review of other demographic data <br />• Initial DEI training plans for City Council, leadership team, and all-staff <br />• Level-setting workshop discussion <br />• High-level discussion of potential next steps <br /> <br />BUDGET IMPACT: <br />No budget impact at this time. <br /> <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE: <br />Enhancing identity and empowering community: <br />• Action Item <br />o Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Initiative
