The workshop began with a <br />FIRE review of 2008 calls for service with Don Smiley reviewing charts <br />llEPARTMENT depicting calls for service categorized by time of day, day of week, <br />REPORT incident type, and property use. The Fire Department responded to a total <br />of 209 calls in 2008. <br />There was some discussion about grills on balconies, with Smiley <br />indicating that the City allows gas grills. Smiley indicated that the Fire <br />Department has seldom received a fire call related to a grill fire on a <br />balcony. <br />The Fire Chief reviewed some issues related to the Fire Department <br />operation. He reported that the Fire Department has provided assistance to <br />medics conducting CPR given the labor intensity in doing compressions. <br />However, Allina now has automatic compression machines, but still need <br />assistance fi•om the Fire Department for spare air bottles. Another issue is <br />the fact that Little Canada and Vadnais Heights have entered into an <br />automatic mutual aid arrangement for any fire calls with flames. <br />Additionally, both Fire Departments also respond to vehicular accidents <br />
