Steve Morelan replied that that is one factor. <br />Most of the fire rating, however, is based on the City's water system. <br />The Fire Chief reported on a listing of planned Capital Improvement <br />items. In smmnary, these are: <br />o Fire Station monument sign with message board -Fire <br />Department funded project. It was noted that several years <br />ago a $5,000 donation was made for Fire Department <br />signage. <br />o Relocation of overhead water fills in Fire Station -work <br />has been completed, and was necessary from a safety <br />standpoint -Fire Department funded project. <br />o Firefighters Historical Trail -planning for the installation <br />of additional signage along the trail depicting the history of <br />the Fire Department -Fire Department funded project. <br />o Fire Station Lighting -alighting audit has been conducted <br />with an estimate of $14,000 of improvements <br />recommended with an estimated repayment period of 5 '/2 <br />years. Contractors reviewing the specs that were put <br />together by the audit company did not want to follow these <br />specs. Estimated under the revised specs are at $17,000. <br />The Chief indicated that additional estimates will be <br />obtained. This would be a City funded project. <br />o Equipment Mounting -modifications were made for tool <br />mounting on certain vehicles for safety reasons at a cost of <br />$5,000 to $6,000. Fire Department funded project. <br />o Carbon Monoxide Alarms -the Chief noted that effective <br />8/1/08 carbon monoxide alarms are required in every <br />dwelling within 10 feet of sleeping areas. 'Fhe Fire <br />Department has decided to purchase carbon monoxide <br />alarms and make them available to residential property <br />owners at no cost, one per household. This will not include <br />apartments, condos, or rental units. There will be no <br />income requirements. The program will start with 650 <br />alarms ($30 each). This is a Fire Department funded <br />prod ect. <br />o Fire Department office area renovation -modifications are <br />being made to the office area, replacing used furniture that <br />was initially installed in the station when constructed in <br />1991, and providing for more efficient use of existing <br />space. 'I'bis is a Fire Department funded project. <br />o Service doors replacement-three steel service doors were <br />replaced due to rusted jambs. This was a City fmided <br />project at a cost of approximately $5,000. <br />
