STAFF REPORT <br />TO:Mayor Fischer and Members of the City Council <br />FROM:Chris Heineman, City Administrator <br />Heidi Heller, City Clerk/HR Manager <br />DATE:July 10, 2024 <br />RE:Community Development Director Hire <br />ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED <br />Approve the hire of a new Community Development Director. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Corrin Wendell, former Community Development Director/Planner submitted her resignation <br />and June 10, 2024 was her last day in Little Canada. City staff reviewed the job description, <br />made minor modifications and retitled the position as simply Community Development Director. <br />The Community Development Director position was posted and 16 applications were received. <br />Staff reviewed the applications and invited five applicants to interview with the City <br />Administrator. Three finalists were then invited to interview with the leadership team consisting <br />of the Public Works Director, Finance Director, Parks & Rec Director, Community Relations <br />Manager and City Clerk/HR Manager. A unanimous decision was made for our top candidate. <br />A conditional offer subject to a satisfactory background check has been made to the chosen <br />candidate, Ben Harrington, and he has accepted our offer with a start date of August 26. More <br />information about the candidate will be provided at the meeting. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the hire of Ben Harrington as the new Community Development Director.
