MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 109 2024 <br />STAFF REPORTS <br />AUTHORIZE TEMPORARY ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT POSITION <br />The City Clerk explained that the need for an additional administration position was identified in the <br />organizational study and staff gap analysis. Staff is requesting to move forward with hiring an <br />administrative assistant, noting that it would be a temporary position through the end of the year. She <br />explained that a part-time position was budgeted for the entire year, so the position could be full-time <br />at this point and stay within the budgeted amount. She explained that this position could take over <br />duties that would allow other staff members to focus on higher level tasks. <br />Mayor Fischer commented that the job description was in-depth and acknowledged that this is an entry <br />level position. The City Clerk noted that there will be an option to go through a temp agency to fill the <br />position as well. Mayor Fischer asked if the need for administrative help will be a permanent need. <br />The City Clerk confirmed that is accurate. <br />T. Miller introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTIONNO. 2024-7-84 —APPROVING THE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT <br />POSITION DESCRIPTIONAND A UTHORIZING THE AD VER TISEMENT AND HIRE <br />OFA FULL-TIME, TEMPORARYADMINISTRA TIVE ASSISTANT POSITION <br />IMMEDIA TEL Y. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by D. Miller. <br />Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />ADDITION: HIRE OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR <br />The City Administrator explained that the former Community Development Director vacated the <br />position on June 14th and the City has been in the process of searching for a candidate. He stated that <br />Ben Harrington was chosen and will begin on August 26. <br />T. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />COUNCIL REPORTS AND MEETING UPDATES <br />D. Miller provided an update on the most recent meeting of the Cable Commission. <br />Mayor Fischer provided an update on recent meetings he attended for the Regional Council of Mayors <br />and the local meeting of City Administrators and Mayors. <br />2 <br />
