MINNESOTA 55102 TELEPHONE 298.4127 Representatives of this department and municipal managers and engineers have discussed proposals to change some of the county's road maintenance practices. One suggested change is that our maintenance division consoli- date services it is best capable of handling and relinquish some services the :municipalities could assume. Because of this department's limited capabilities to provide street sweeping, this year several municipalities propose to sweep county roads within their municipalities on a contract basis. The County will continue -to sweep some roadways with both :;ounty forces and by contract operators. This will allow several alternatives for your local street sweeping needs: 1. You may seek bids from private contractors for sweeping your streets. 2. You may contract with adjacent municipalities wnich have sweeping capabilities. 3. You may participate in the county's street sweeping contract at the rate charged Ramsey County. 4. You may request the County to provide street sweeping as in the past; however, these services can be provided only after the county needs for sweeping are met. We will furnish you the rates of the county contract for street sweeping, when a contract has been awarded in the event you wish to participate in the county's contract with private contractors.
