Traawrer
CHARLES L BRANDT. Director
JOANNE CUSHMAN. Director
SUZANNE K. WELSCH. Director
At their regular meeting held on June 30, 1977, the School Board
considered the proposal to vacate Park Street between County
Road B-2 and Demont in the City of Little Canada. This street
lies west of the newly developed ball fields at Kellogg High School.
On June 22, Paul Borg and Ray King of the school district met
with Jim Vielleux, a representative of the Terrace Heights Trailer
Park, regarding the proposed vacation of Park Street. Reasons
given the school's representatives for the proposed vacation
were that placement of some trailers are apparently out of
variance with present Health Department standards and that Park
Street if put through would divide the park into two postal zones.
Despite the fact that Park Street does not go entirely through
from County Road B-2 to Demont at the present time vacation of
it would certainly limit present and potential movement of
students, autos and buses associated with Capitol View Junior
High School and Kellogg Senior High School. The School District
does not consider vacation of Park Street to be in its best
interests and has formally expressed its opposition to the
proposed vacation by passing the following resolution on June
30, 1977:
"That the City Council of Little Canada be notified of the opposi-
tion of vacation of Park Street between B-2 and Demont by In-
dependent School District No. 623 because it is not considered to
be in the best interests of pupil, auto and future bus safety and
movement related to the operation of Capitol View Junior High and
Kellogg Senior High Schools."
Thank you.
Sincerely yours
Lloyd Ni sen
Superintendent
Clerk's exhibit no.
1139
Meeting-7-13-77
'\N EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOAriginal on Pile under Streets
