MINNESOTA 55109 <br />(612) 484-3261 <br />JULWVh 17# <br />6rya <br />is 1977 <br />CITY OF <br />LITTLE CANADA <br />rn April of this year, the Little Canada Council was <br />presented with a petition sinned by over 700 of its <br />citizense representing over 20% of the 3,292 persons <br />Vho voted in the City election of November 2nd, 1976. <br />That petition requested that the Council prohibit the <br />further construction of apartments in little Canada, <br />and specifically, a development of a lame 17 acre <br />tract located on County Road C for apartment purposes. <br />At a meeting of the Council hold on June 8th a 1977, <br />many citizens sppeared vp3cting tho Council to take <br />e€feCtive action to stem the saturation of our city <br />with apartment buildings. I spoke at that sating on <br />behalf of a group of citizens known as the "Concerned <br />+Citimnns of Little Carsaft. (CCtr.) . and urged the <br />Council to adopt a moratorium on the construction of <br />apartments until a comprehensive revisier. of our city'e <br />coning ordinances rnd Land use maps could be. accomplished. <br />It vas intended that revision of the Zoning ordinances <br />takc into consideration the future coratructtcLn of <br />opmrtme%to in Little Canada.
