Since that time it has been
determined that houses exist on the northeast corner and the southeast
corner of this intersection. The property on the northwest corner is
owned by a party from California and in the past it has been difficult
to obtain an easement across this property. It probably would have
to be condemned in order to gain title to it and this would take
time.
The southwest corner of this intersection is owned by local
residents. Some trees exist on this site but in the area proposed
for this water tank (250'along Allen Avenue by 230' along DeSota St.)
the area consists mainly of brush and small trees. After considerable
discussion in this office, we recommend that soil tests be taken
on the site at the southwest corner of Allen Avenue and DeSota
Street for the following reasons:
1. A corner site would not break up a developable tract.
2. The soils in this area are similar to those in the
surrounding area as determined from previous sewer projects.
3. No substantial amount of new roadway will be required at
this time.
4. This site exists on a tract adjacent to the proposed 16" main.
5. The land is empty.
6. The site is not being used for agriculture at this time
so cropland will not be taken.
1244
CLERK'S EXHIBIT NO
MEETING-9-14-77
Original on Pile under water tower Imp. 77-6-
