There were a total of 83 applicants. Requests from the Seven County metro area totaled an estimated 57,576,197 and from the outstate areas $3,237,375 for a grand total of $10,815,572 with the state share com- ing to an estimated $7,616,058. As you will note this considerably exceeds our present funding capa- bilities. We are now in the process of prioritizina projects and check- ing to see that the information contained in the preliminary grant applica- tion places the various proposed projects -within the legal limits of the law. Attached for your information Is a draft copy of the Department of Transportation's Temporary Rules governing this pronram. Please note that this is only a draft copy. The proposed Temporary Pules will appear In the January 9 State Register with a twenty (20) day period following_ thereafter for oDportun i ty to comment. However, of course, It is our opinion that these rules in their .present state are appropriate and accomplish the intent of the law and our Department. After prioritization, applicants with hiah ranking projects will receive a final grant agplication form. At that t1rye we will be interested in your agency having proof of adeeuate matching funds, resolution of the appropriate governing body authorizing the project and an agreement by your agency to accept the maintenance and operational costs. Also at this time, we will be very Interested in your proncsed project completion dates as we strongly desire to expedite the development and construction of these bikeways. Your attention is particularly directed to D-2, 3 and 7; F-I and 2; G-1 and 2 of the proposed rules. - if your agency is no longer interested in the project for which an applica- tion was submitted and/or does not desire to pursue the application during, Calendar Year 1978, please notify us immediately, If you have any questions or desire to provide added information regarding your applications, please call Laurie Young, 296-5993.
