St. Cloud, Minnesota 55301 251-7751 314 Oak St. Sauk Centre, Minnesota 36M 3523664 February '23, 1978 I have reviewed the preliminary plans for the above improvement as submitted by the Minnesota.Department of Trans- portation. The plan calls for widening the road to provide one 12 foot driving lane in each direction plus a 13 foot center lane to be used for left turn movements to the east and west. Also this plan includes an 8 foot parking lane on each side of the street except where this lane is needed for right turns. Concrete curb and gutter is proposed for both sides of the street and a median barrier is proposed beneath the railroad bridge. It appears that no additional right-of-way will be required. The area around the railroad bridge (500 feet north of the bridge to 1300 feet south of the bridge) is being restudied in conjunction with the bridge replacement program scheduled for 1981. So, it appears that the road will be improved in 1979 and the bridge replaced in 1981 unless the bridge can be moved up. With Rice Street being overlayed in 1978 from Demont south, this improvement from Demont to I-694 is very much needed. These plans are only preliminary and do not show details such as grades, drainage, etc. When construction plans are presented, some of the things to look for are: 1. The proposed finished grades and how they affect adjacent properties. 2. The disposition of the storm water.
